Propane Space Heaters Warm the Hard-to-Heat Spaces!

Enjoy Continued Comfort All Season Long!

choosing space heaterWith cold weather coming, now is a great time to make sure you can use every single space in your home comfortably throughout the chilliest months of the year.

Depew Energy sells, installs, and services propane space heaters that can add warmth and comfort wherever you need them! These convenient appliances help you out by providing a warm, comfortable space—perfect for garages, a shed workshop or studio, even a three-season sun porch all year-round. Underheated spaces in your home—such as home additions—can be warm and comfy without having to crank up the thermostat, or subsequently, your energy costs.

Our in-house experts will make sure you get the right size propane heater for your space—and your budget. For example, if you’re heating a smaller space of around 100 square feet, you need a space heater that can emit 2,500 British Thermal Units (BTUs). A larger space, say around 400 square feet, needs a space heater that can emit 13,600 BTUs.

You don’t want to pick a space heater with insufficient BTUs for the given area. Conversely, a space heater that produces far too many BTUs than required for heating your room is also inefficient, as you’re burning through propane unnecessarily.

Types of Propane Space Heaters

Vented propane heaters are vented out the back of the device into a chimney or a vent pipe, so any dangerous combustion fumes are sent outdoors. They offer a more precise heat that you have more control over. However, because vented space heaters must be placed on an exterior wall, your choices for where they can be put in your space may be more restricted.

Vent-free heaters do not require ductwork or vents, making installation easier and less expensive than vented heaters. They may also be placed where vented heaters can’t go because vent-free heaters don’t require access to an exterior wall for ventilation.

You have a few more options when it comes to vent-free propane heaters as they typically come in a wide range of sizes. There are two types of vent-free heaters:

Modern vent-free propane heaters have safety features such as oxygen depletion sensors, overheating protection, and automatic shutoff capabilities. Because exhaust is released inside the home, it is illegal to install vent-free heaters in rooms where people sleep. Some municipalities may completely prohibit them. Before you select a space heater, make sure to check your local codes—we can assist you in this process!
